Do not panic, because back pain is usually minor and temporary as mentioned before. However, if pain persists, you will want to talk to your doctor about it. He or she may want to rule out some possibilities, given your family history or precious conditions. If you are prone to infection, for example, a simple blood test or culture sample can confirm an infection or rule it out. Either way, you will want to be sure. Your doctor will want to start with simple tests first. Most serious causes for back pain do not show up on expensive tests such as a CAT scan or an MRI, so it makes sense to avoid the time and expense of those unless other indicators suggest one is needed.
